According to court records, 93,300 defendants appeared before a judge
within 180 days of their missed hearing and should be
entitled to a reduction in their outstanding debt.
The courts of Philadelphia will reduce an
individual's debt, if the defendant can prove that they reported to the
court within 180 days of their skipped court date. But even if court
records show that a defendant is entitled to a discount, the onus remains
on the defendant to challenge their debt.
